Life to the Full

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 10:10

This is my Wednesday CORE group from the Preston Ridge Campus. We're about to start a series together called God's image-bearers. Each of these guys is uniquely made in the image of God, and my prayer is they see their true purpose what it means to be human the way God created us to be.

Life to the Full

If you were to ask a couple college students the question, "what do you think it means to have life to the full?", What do you think their answer would be? Most of them will respond "working my dream job", "Do whatever you're passionate about, and go chase it", and "Find my future spouse and start a family". Don't get me wrong, God created good things for us, but they are not meant to be gods to us to chase after the good life (Rom. 1:25). I was at Preston Ridge campus doing a coffee and conversation outreach with students outside, I had a prompt question for them which asks, "What does it mean to have life to the full?" I had students write their answers on sticky notes and most answered do what makes you happy, and some answered their faith with me. One student, in particular, said "Dude, it's all about accomplishing your goals and dreams." I responded "What are those goals and dreams? And when you complete them, will you be completely satisfied with your life?" He didn't know how to respond to my response because all he thought about was things that the world offers can only temporarily make him happy but not satisfied as Jesus can. When Jesus said, I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (Jhn. 10:10), He explains that he has come to share his life by serving and loving others who don't have life. Our life is not for our desires and pleasure to do whatever we want. The Lord, who is the author of life and put his breath in our lungs, we owe Him that breath! We didn't have the will to create ourselves and have our own purpose of life, but it is God's grace he chose you and me to have life abundantly with Him and have a relationship with him through Jesus. Our purpose is to give life to the full as Jesus did for others.

Here are some questions for you to reflect and ponder;

  1. Part of having life to the full is about having an intimate relationship with Jesus. What’s an intimate relationship with Jesus look like? Where do you personally fall short of this?
  2. As you pursue life to the full, what’s the main thing you’re tempted to replace Jesus with?

This is Diego. Diego grew up in Guatemala his childhood life and moved to America when he reached high school. Since he started school at Collin, he was looking for a community of college believers to join in. He found F.O.C.U.S on at welcome week at Preston Ridge and was thrilled to find out who we were. I invited him to hangout together, and from that first hangout at Canes, I learned so much about his lifestory and he's egar to grow deeper in his relationship with God. Today we are going through f.o.j together and teaching him about the gospel of Jesus. Pray for Diego's growth over the next months and for me to listen to God how he can use me to serve and lead Diego to Jesus. I love this guy!

This is Max. Max has been a student at Collin for two year, but my first year meeting him. He wants to be animation designer and want to make puppet animation film one day. He has a sweet tender heart for people and enjoys being arounds with people.

Prayer Requests

1. Fall Camp is this weekend (10/9 - 10/10)! Pray for safe travels to Mt. Lebanon at Cedar Hill, TX, for our students to grow in deeper relationship with God and have fun with the whole community. Fall camp is a time to get away from school and work for a short time and rest with the Lord Almighty and the believers.

2. For my one-on-ones at Preston Ridge and potential students who God will prepare for me to meet in the future.

3. For our student leaders to grow deeper in discipleship now and preperation to be adult disciples in their workfeild down the road.
