Heading Into the New Year!

2019-2020 FOCUS apprentices at staff Christmas party

Reflection over the semester!

The first half of my apprenticeship has completed and it's been an incredible journey! Many friends and family have asked me, "How's your apprenticeship coming along?" Here's my response; The apprenticeship has been teaching me how good of a God we serve and that he tremendously loves us despite how much we mess up. God has shown me some of my blind spots and that He is not upset or impatient with me in fixing it. He calls me to be faithful and trust that He is good and is making me into a new creation. The classes have been a blessing to help me build a deep understanding of Biblical theology, how to be a good steward with my money, and improving a healthier physical lifestyle. As this semester ends, a new semester begins for new growth opportunities and students to minister. Please join me this new year in prayer for new students coming to Collin.

Christmas Card Outreach:

The Collin apprentices and I came up with an outreach plan to make Christmas cards for patients at Children's Hospital - Dallas. At Collin Spring Creek, we had a huge turnout, and students made over 100 Christmas cards! God is good!

Christmas Party

At the end of the school semester, campus staff planned a Christmas party for the students to sing Christmas worship, build forts, play board games, and watch Home Alone 2. My CORE group's theme was Charlie Brown Christmas. I had a great time and was happy to spend time with my guys.

Staff Retreat & Sunday Morning Service

January 1st - The whole staff from FOCUS traveled outside of Austin, TX, for our staff retreat, and we personally invited Brady Bobbink and his wife Shirley to encourage us towards the new semester. Brady is the director of a campus ministry (CCF) in Bellingham, WA. Every year, we send our students to Washington state to their ministry conference called SICM (Student Institute of Campus Ministry), started by Brady Bobbink. Brady's vision for campus ministry has made an impact on FOCUS so we're very grateful for his work for the kingdom. My favorite part about staff retreat was spending quality time with other campus staff ministers who I don't get to see often. This retreat was very restful for me.

Brady also spoke at our Sunday morning service. This is a sweet picture of my pastor, Ronnie Worsham, with Brady Bobbink.

Student Testimony:

Prayer Request:

  • Winter Camp is happening THIS weekend!! We currently have 135 students from Collin signed up, and over 450 across, all of our campuses. Winter Camp is an incredibly impactful time for our students as they spend 4 days together, worshiping God, playing games, and learning from the scriptures. Please pray that more students would be able to attend and that God would move powerfully to win the hearts of college students for the rest of their lives. Also, winter camp costs $160 per student, but for Collin, it’s $50. If you would like to help scholarship a student so that they can attend, please don't hesitate to reach out!
  • New Semester - Pray for our staff and student leaders to be outreaching as the new semester starts. Many new students will be on campus, and we want to be there to meet them and welcome them into the Christian community.
